Job Description

Patexia is a rapidly-growing startup that is changing the world of intellectual property (IP). We are currently looking for dedicated sales professionals to solve IP challenges for top law firms, leading technology companies, and major universities and research organizations by joining our client solutions team. The world is hungry for new technology and our mission is to bring technical, legal, and business experts together in a multidisciplinary social network to advance the pace of innovation.

Fundamentally, good business is about good people. We are looking for smart, motivated, and disciplined candidates with a passion for technology, an interest in startup culture, and a readiness to learn on the go. Experience with or an interest in patents and IP is a plus, and a technical background is preferred.

As a member of the client solutions team you will join us in Patexia’s Santa Monica office -- just a few blocks from the beach! -- where you will work directly with our sales and business development team. As a small company we afford entry level candidates an opportunity to learn faster and take on more extensive and varied responsibilities than a larger organization.

Responsibilities

  • Research IP-intensive organizations and their surroundings
  • Identify sales targets including influencers and decision makers
  • Cold call and email sales targets to pitch Patexia’s services, schedule calls and meeting with decision makers
  • Generate leads, present proposals, and close deals
  • Maintain and grow new and existing client relationships

Skills and Personal Qualities

  • A bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or other technical field
  • Great people skills including both verbal and written communication
  • Strong cold calling and prospecting skills; persistent and unfazed by rejection
  • Desire and ability to work and learn in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
  • Detail oriented and analytical; reliable and responsive
  • Positive mental attitude and a quick learner; responds well to constructive feedback
  • Ability to define goals and consistently deliver results
  • Organized and serially punctual
  • Career oriented with a desire for rapid growth
