WellnessFX is starting to do for healthcare what Amazon has done for commerce and what E-readers have done for books.  WellnessFX has created a way for practitioners and patients to interact outside of the classic office/appointment system through a novel telemedicine system.  Through a well-designed internet-based platform, providers can order diagnostics remotely, and discuss these biomarkers and appropriate treatment plans from anywhere at any time.  The platform is easily accessible from any internet-ready device, including mobile.

Patients get individualized recommendations based on their biomarkers.  Through routine repeat testing on a similar schedule that patients usually receive, they can trend their values on the platform, allowing members and practitioners to see what interventions actually have a positive impact and further customize recommendations based on that feedback.

Direct and indirect costs of healthcare are greatly reduced.  Providers no longer need to practice in office-based settings, greatly reducing the real-estate and staffing costs.  In addition, the significant time costs of transportation to the office and waiting in the office are eliminated.

Despite these lower costs, patients have greater access to their health data.  No longer are their medical records transmission issues, as patients have their records and diagnostics in the palm of their hands.  In addition to their data, they can also access their recommendations any time.

Such greater access engages patients in their health in a way they never have before, and such engagement significant impacts outcomes.  For example, examining the data of WellnessFX patients who have had repeat diagnostics performed, they have had a significant improvement in their lipids and inflammatory markers.  These improvements translate to a reduced risk of many chronic diseases, creating a significant decrease in health care costs.

What makes such biomarker improvement striking is that currently it is with a focus on lifestyle changes, including dietary and activity, the least costly interventions.  In addition to demonstrating a biomarker improvement, we have demonstrated that this innovative model actually works and reduces spending significantly.    Below is a small sample of a consultation by a practitioner.

Ultimately, through a cloud-based, universally accessible platform that allows for feedback and personalized recommendations, health care spending is greatly reduced both through costs of practice and improvement in outcomes.

Tony Jolly Seems rather a boutique type of practice, the type of practice you might be able to pull off in an educated population and wealthy community with access to expensive biomarkers. Not a bad idea, might sell. Seems like the graphical application could be easily replicated with any web based EMR.

Maryam Keyvani Thanks Murdoc. I am sure you are thinking about this already, but combining your platform with a few existing biomarker measurement devices out there seems like a good idea.People are generally lazy and forgetful when it comes to measuring and inputting manually and it is prone to user mistakes in either measurement or data input as well.

Murdoc Khaleghi All the data is imported automatically through some basic integration. Yes, you could definitely combine this with certain other diagnostic testing services. While it might seem boutique, it actually lower cost than most bricks-and-mortar basic health services, meaning more people can receive higher level care at lower cost.
