Apple granted glasses patent

On Tuesday, less than one week after the big reveal of Google's Project Glass, Apple was granted a patent for a "head-mounted display." The application was speculatively filed in 2006, long before anyone caught wind of Google's Project Glass (possibly before its existence). The language in the patent is specifically geared towards a display-based device, so Apple is far from having a stronghold on wearable computing devices, but sufficiently non-specific patent language means there will undoubtedly be a whole new round of patent wars once every major consumer electronics manufacturer is trying to get in your face.
