Hewlett-Packard (HP) has made their webOS software available to the open source community. HP will be providing support to developers who plan on using the software. The company hopes that the opening up of webOS will lead to numerous innovations in the field of web applications, since the platform is designed to work well with mobile and cloud technologies. It also stands to provide mobile device developers a single platform in which to incorporate multiple products. The base code of webOS will be made available under an open source license. Any enhancements or new versions of webOS created by members of the development community will be made available in the marketplace.  HP will also be providing the application framework for webOS ENYO in the near future.
