The debate over lung cancer screening continues, with a new study showing that low-dose CT scanning may not be ready for prime time. A systematic review of 21 studies found that among heavy smokers and former smokers, the approach is likely to save lives, according to Peter Bach, MD, of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, and colleagues, but potential harms of the method were also found.
