Panasonic, Samsung, SanDisk, Sony and Toshiba have agreed to collaborate on new memory content protection technology for flash memory cards. The five companies will begin preparing licensing and promotion of HD-capable security for SD cards and embedded memory in advanced consumer applications like tablets and smartphones. The security upgrade would enable mobile and tablet devices that operate on Google's Android platform and various Blu-Ray devices to use HD content applications online and offline effortlessly. All five companies believe that the consumer electronic industry will adopt the use of this technology with various flash memory products in 2012.
