SpaceX completes Dragon spacecraft milestone for human space flight

SpaceX continues its preparations for their upcoming test flight that will send the Dragon spacecraft to the International Space Station. SpaceX has recently completed the first NASA Crew Trial that involves building and testing a prototype Dragon crew cabin. In both nominal and off-nominal scenarios, SpaceX demonstrated that their new crew cabin design works well for astronauts. Their engineers also used the opportunity to gain feedback from both NASA astronauts and industry experts. The Dragon contains enough interior volume that it could contain an entire three-person Russian Soyuz capsule descent module inside Dragon's pressure vessel. The seven seats within mount to strong, lightweight supporting structures attached to the pressure vessel walls. Each seat can hold an adult up to 6 feet 5 inches tall, 250 lbs, and has a liner that is custom-fit for the crewmember.
