Study says millions have tissue killing protiens

According to the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, 32 million Americans have proteins in their bodies, called autoantibodies, that attack their own tissues. In a study with approximately 5,000 individuals, 13.8 percent of patients are afflicted by these tissue-attacking proteins. Strange correlations were found surrounding autoantibodies including high levels in women, elderly citizens and African Americans; their development prior to the appearances of certain autoimmune diseases; and low amounts in overweight people. Scientists theorize that fat tissue produces a protein that inhibits autoantibody development. Further research is being conducted to determine autoantibody development causes and autoantibody prevalence.
