VIDEO: Fasting works as well as chemotherapy in mice

According to a study published in the Science Translational Medicine journal, fasting slowed the growth and spread of tumors in five out of eight cancer types in mice. Short fasting cycles plus chemotherapy was much more effective than only chemotherapy. Whether the same effect holds true for humans has yet to be determined. However, given that mice bearing a human ovarian cancer had extended survival as a result of fasting, results are promising.
