VIDEO: World's first elastic electric cords

Roboden is an elastic material created by Asahi Kasei Fibers that can be used as a cable for electrical, USB, and data cords. The applications of its flexibility and durability include easier usage of appliances, humanlike skin development in robotics, and better motion capture imaging technology. Industrial engineering can also benefit from its elasticity, allowing for more curved building architectures and flexible manufacturing machines. The cable can be stretched 1.5 times and was on display at the International Robot Exhibition 2011 in Japan.
