The next IP matters webinar is going to cover patent enforcement in China with Michael Lin. He has over 13 years of experience in pan-Asia IP law. It should be a great talk (it&amp;#39;s certainly an interesting topic). As always, it&amp;#39;s FREE! See you there July 11th at 1:30PM ET.

Last week the German parliament passed a joint motion addressing the increasingly severa problem of software patent protection, reports IP Watch. The parliament seeks to eliminate non-copyright intellectual property rights on software, ordering the national intellectual property office to reevaluate its regulations on software patents.

Though no reports have been confirmed, the sources say that a similar resolution for the EU parliament may be coming forthwith.

In a long-awaited decision, the supreme court has finally issued a ruling striking down the central patented matter in Association for Molecular Pathology v. Myriad Genetics. At the heart of the case was whether or not Myriad could patent diagnostic identification of a particular existing mutation in the human genome predisposing women to breast and ovarian cancer.

The Justices&amp;#39; decision--unanimous and lead by Chief Justice Thomas--was narrow. Importantly, it left open the... </description>

Now, the UKIPO is considering a super-fast patent track which could grant patents in less than two months. Is this a good idea? It seems possible, but some of us remain skeptical...
