Job Description

Patexia, a fast-growing startup changing the world of intellectual property, is looking for an entry level sales and marketing associate. You will create and execute innovative sales and marketing strategies to build Patexia's online presence and generate new members.  We want to bring together scientists, businesses, and IP professionals in a multidisciplinary social network to advance the pace of innovation. The world is hungry for new technologies and we want you to be a part of it by helping our community grow and thrive.

Experience with, or interest in, patents and intellectual property, and/or some technical background is a plus.

You will join us in our Santa Monica office -- just a few blocks from the beach -- where you will be trained to work directly with our sales and overseas marketing team. This is a great opportunity to learn and advance your career and because we are a small company your responsibilities will be much more extensive and varied than at a larger institution.

Responsibilities

  • Create strong, lasting relationships within academia and industry
  • Call on professors, research labs, and businesses to target and recruit new community members
  • Promote our website, contests, and featured content through email, presentations, and social media
  • Coordinate and direct the efforts of our overseas team of marketing assistants

Skills and Personal Qualities

  • A bachelor or masters degree
  • Strong calling, presentation (both verbal and written), and follow up skills
  • Persistent, assertive, and goal oriented; analytical and detail oriented
  • Confident when engaging and speaking with professionals both individually and in a group setting
  • Ability to delegate responsibilities and provide constructive feedback as the leader of a team
  • Desire to work in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced startup culture
  • Self starter with strong problem solving skills; positive mental attitude and a quick learner
  • Career oriented with desire for rapid growth
