ARM arm-in-arm with GlobalFoundries, TSMC

This morning ARM revealed a new partnership with chip fab GlobalFoundries to manufacture FinFET-based 20nm chips in its Malta, NY facility. The announcement comes amidst a flurry of FinFET excitement, with all major fabs moving towards this multi-gate technology that promises to drive the next generation CPUs and GPUs for mobile devices. The race is on to see which chip fab will be the first to start reliable production of 20nm multi-gate technology -- ARM announced a similar partnership with TSMC last week -- though recent reports indicate that Intel is working on including a similar multi-gate technology in some of its upcoming products.
