Frankly, the device never really made much sense to me -- and certainly not $300 worth of sense...

It seems Google thought it would get an overwhelming reaction like Apple does from it's hardcore fans; only Google and Apple fans are completely different. Apple fans fork-out gobs of cash for products that are "innovative" and don't always make much sense. Google fans on the other hand like lots of features on their things for free or for cheap -- like search engines, we browser, smartphones, and tablets, it Googles selling point. Google lost focus, thought it was Apple, cut too many fetters, and priced too high. That's not their market and now they know it.
