HBO Patents Boxing Glove Sensor

Earlier this week, HBO was awarded a patent for sensor technology that measures and transmits the force at which a boxing glove hits someone's face. The patent discloses a system where accelerometer and gyroscope sensors are embedded in the front of a boxing glove, and the broader idea is to be able to include punch force and other stats in real-time during a fight, similar to how pitch speed is shared during a baseball broadcast.
