Hologic Awarded $4.8 Million in Patent Damages Against Minerva Surgical

A Delaware jury awarded Hologic $4.2 million in lost profit patent damages and more than half a million dollars in reasonable royalty patent damages, based on Minerva Surgical’s infringement of patents related to detecting uterine perforations during uterine ablation.  The court denied Minerva Surgical’s motion for a new trial, and held that the trial evidence supported the jury’s damages award.  The Court also awarded Hologic’s request for prejudgment interest, but denied Hologic’s request for enhanced damages.

This case is Hologic, Inc. et al v. Minerva Surgical, Inc., Case No. 1-15-cv-01031 (D. Del).
