Patents as Collateral for Startups

Dennis Crouch, a professor at the Missouri School of Law, published an interesting review of a recent paper by Yael Hochberg, Carlos Serrano, and Rosemarie Ham Ziedonis titled "Patent Collateral, Investor Comittment, and the Market for Venture Lending" which talked about how patents are being put up more and more as collateral for startups in pursuit of venture lending.
