Samsung is Apparently Changing their Patent Filing Strategy in the US

Patexia has lately learned from a number of sources that Samsung may be in the process of changing their filing strategy in the US. These sources indicated that Samsung is cutting their patent business in the US. It is not yet clear if they are taking most of the work in-house or they have decided to reduce their number of filings in the US. Among the firms that may have been affected are DC offices of Dickstein Shapiro (now Blank Rome), Staas & Halsey, Jefferson IP and NSIP Law. We have also learned that some of these firms have had layoffs in recent weeks because of this change. Samsung has traditionally been one of the top filers in the US. In many rankings they appeared among the top 5 US patent filers.
