Nearly everyone is worried about increasing health care costs in the United States. These higher costs not only affect Medicare and Medicaid services but private sector insurance as well. In an effort to reduce these costs, changes in payment levels, benefit structures and eligibility have been suggested. A less harmful strategy, put forth in the latest issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association, may be to reduce waste in health care.
