Court of Appeals for Federal Circuit (CAFC) is one of the important venues for patent litigation. In recent years, and with the introduction of IPR, we have seen a large number of PTO-originated cases moved up to the Federal Circuit.  

CAFC Intelligence Report 2022 is Patexia's second report, aiming at evaluating all stakeholders before the Court of Appeals for Federal Circuit. Our report will cover attorneys, law firms, Appellee and Appellant, and Federal Circuit judges. 

Similar to other Patexia Insight Reports, this report will cover patent-related cases for a five-year period from January 1, 2017, through December 31, 2021. This period covers:

• 4,363 Federal Circuit Cases
• 3,110 Appellee and Appellant
• 1,124 Law Firms 
• 5,558 Attorneys

• Top 3 Firms used by each company

Similar to other reports, the rankings will cover the "Most Active" and "Best Performing" in the following categories:

• Appellee
• Appellant
• Overall

The "Best Performing" category is calculated based on the opinion and order for all the terminated cases for the period of the study. Our research team will review the judgments and allocate points to respective parties.

We will provide an Excel file together with the report to cover up to the top 1,000 most active attorneys, law firms, companies, judges and top 3 clients for each firm and the top 3 law firms representing each company.
