Facial recognition tech thwarts identity fraud

Emerging technology in facial recognition is paving the way for enhanced security against fraud for banks and casinos. The Federal Trade Commission is investigating the capabilities of innovative facial recognition software in preventing cases like fictitious drivers licenses, identity theft, and ATM withdrawals from impersonators. In fact, ATM cameras can be used for later review of suspects believed to be connected to fraudulent activities. Issues of privacy have been raised because banks and casinos may not ask permission from customers before using the software with their facial recordings. However, they also find that customers have expressed an interest in willingly attaching their face to their account, to create an additional defensive layer against impersonators.
