IR introduces automotive-qualified IGBT optimized for soft switching applications

International Rectifier (IR) today announced the introduction of the AUIRGDC0250, an automotive-qualified IGBT optimized for soft switching applications such as Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) heater applications as used in electric and hybrid vehicles. Available in a compact Super TO-220 package, the 1200V AUIRGDC0250 features low VCE (on) to reduce power dissipation and achieve higher power density, positive VCE (on) temperature coefficient making the device well suited for paralleling, and optimized square reverse bias safe operating area (RBSOA) while the soft switching nature of the AUIRGDC0250 makes it ideal for helping adhere to system level EMI regulations. IR’s automotive IGBTs are subject to dynamic and static part average testing combined with 100 percent automated wafer level visual inspection as part of IR’s automotive quality initiative targeting zero defects. The new devices are all environmentally friendly and assembled with IR’s automotive grade bill of materials which are lead-free and RoHS compliant.
