NVIDIA GPUs power brain-crunching supercomputers

NVIDIA announced today that its latest GPUs will be used in the Jülich Supercomputing Centre, one of Europe's most powerful. This is exactly the kind of out-of-the-graphics-box use that NVIDIA was hoping for with their latest GPU release. The most exciting research to use these new supercomputing resources will come from a wealth of neuroscientists hoping to construct a model of human brain function. Researchers "are using NVIDIA® Tesla® GPUs to accelerate by as much as 50x the reconstruction of histological brain sections necessary for the rendering of a high-definition, structurally accurate and realistic model of the human brain." said the press release.
