Oracle buys Endeca Technologies

Oracle has purchased Endeca Technologies, a top data management provider for web commerce and business intelligence solutions. This acquisition will help meet the need for a unified data management and analytics platform, given the growing convergence of structured and unstructured information. With Endeca’s core technology, the MDEX Engine, businesses can correlate unstructured data and analyze it.

The aggregation of data into a meaningful format is made possible with the of Endeca InFront, a customer experience management platform, and Endeca Latitude, a technology platform for analytic application development. By combining the capabilities of Oracle Business Intelligence and Endeca Latitude, cross-channel commerce, online customer experiences, and merchandising can be streamlined with a platform that processes, manages, searches, and analyzes both structured and unstructured information.

Thomas Kurian, Executive Vice President of Oracle Development, explained, “The combination of Oracle and Endeca is extremely compelling in this changing data environment. Together, we will provide best-in-class technology to manage structured and unstructured data together; business intelligence tools to analyze structured and unstructured data together; and a broad suite of packaged applications which extends the value of unstructured data into ERP, Supply Chain, CRM, EPM, Web Commerce, and specialized applications. This technology will also allow us to integrate more comprehensive unstructured data management into Oracle’s engineered systems.”
