While the rest of the world seems to be catching up in other fields of innovation,  the US still dominates in the realm of the ultra-small. Reuters reports on a study that found 54% of nano-related patents are filed by US-based inventors. Nanotechnology is slowly finding its way into widespread use, despite concerns of lacking safety regulation and costs of scalability.
